A really short story about the perspective of hope during depression..

-Book One of the Better Day Series- In this time period of the world, the country fell. The humans couldn't support themselves. Those who didn't have a lot of money were forced out of their houses. And with that, they were moved to somewhere. They either became an unpaid worker somewhere in the world. Those who could afford to stay in their houses didn't stay long. The need for crowded towns were needed. With everyone running away to build their own towns, someone has to be left behind. Those who would rather not have an extra mouth to feed left behind their pets. Dogs and cats were left at the house, wondering where their owner went. The dogs and cats weren't just going to let themselves starve. That would have been a foolish thing to do. They became stronger and wiser, which helped some of them form a group. While some became stray, some dogs and cats formed a group together. They would all survive together and do everything together. It was their destiny to find shelter. If none of their pathetic past owners wouldn't do it, they might as well do it themselves. That was the way they finally thought. Alice is the leader of the pack, leading them and helping them around. Of course, her position doesn't affect how she does everything with the other dogs and cats. Her position was picked with a vote, not by teeth, but Alice thought it would be different. When in past life, Alice was a dog that was forced to fight. She was forced to fight other dogs and kill, but now she was free. Alice knew her owners were probably dead by now, but she has the feeling something is around from her past to haunt her. With how it seems, Alice might be haunted by the one thing she couldn't stand after leaving the fighting grounds; burning flesh.
