Hers was quieter: temple bells, ghungroos, and quiet stage performances. A rhythm that didn't ask to be seen-only felt. He played for millions who watched. She danced for the few who truly understood. He loved cricket like destiny. She lived Bharatanatyam like devotion. And somewhere between his restless hands and her disciplined steps, fate decided they would meet. He came looking for peace. She had been carrying it in her eyes all along. He stood under floodlights, she stood beneath temple lamps- and somehow, both kinds of worship led them to each other. His hands were made for cricket. Her feet were made for dance. But perhaps, their hearts were always made for the same journey. Because some love stories do not begin with love they begin with timing, with prayers, with destiny quietly saying- not yet... but soon.

As Martha Graham, a legendary American dancer and choreographer, once said, 'Dance is the hidden language of the soul.' Natyashastra became the fifth Veda, as art is the easiest medium of self-expression. Today, dance demands skill, practice, and perfection. However, in this ongoing trend of becoming the best dancer and monetizing art, we tend to forget our true relationship with dance. Little children, before going to their dance lessons, wiggle their bodies and sway to music in joy. The elderly, with toothy grins, twist and turn their hips when they hear a song from their time. Even adults in this fast-paced world engage in some 3 a.m. moves without mastering professional techniques. But why? Because dance brings joy. It celebrates the movement of the universe, the world, and this body. As a dancer, this journal is a love letter to dance. May you happily twirl around and shed all other inhibitions the next time you hear music and want to break a leg. Dance has been for everyone since time immemorial and shall continue to be the same forever.

Dance has always been to me something beautiful; somewhat a stress-buster, a re-energiser and something that makes me feel graceful. And, so sitting in my dance class one week, surrounded by the healthy environment of learning, was I struck with an idea of giving back to the art I learn, Bharatanatyam, by dedicating this small piece to it...

I've no power left in me to fall for you again.) A Classical Dancer whose life is so convoluted and woeful to understand that one would opt to prepare a research paper on quantum mechanics instead. A Physics Professor who leads a graceful life accustomed to his own beats and rhythms of joy. Fate brings them together, not for the professor to unleash his inner glee on his dancer, but to leave both of them with the poignant pain of love, at the Valley of Love - Lovedale.
