Ezra was a ten-year-old orphan living in the dusty streets of Israel. When he was only four years old, his parents were killed by soldiers of the Roman Empire, leaving him completely alone in a harsh and unforgiving world. With no family to care for him, Ezra learned to survive the only way he could-by stealing food from markets and crowded streets. Hunger pushed him to do things he never wanted to do, but he had no other choice. People in the city soon began to recognize him. They called him names like "street rat" and "thief," chasing him away whenever they saw him near their stalls. No one showed him kindness. No one offered him a home. Love was something Ezra barely remembered from the early years of his childhood. But Ezra's life was about to change. One day he would meet Jesus Christ, the Son of God-and for the first time, someone would see him not as a thief or a nuisance, but as a boy worthy of compassion, hope, and love.

'Why did you kill him?' 'Because he wanted you,' he replied without hesitation. 'And I am frightfully selfish with you, Miss Dahlia.' *** They say we inherit the sins of our fathers - their curses too. Dahlia Bell once worked as a live-in assistant to a blind teen, Lance Dvorak - a quiet boy with a black cat in his cold mansion. His family was surrounded by mysteries and murders she could never quite unravel during her stay with them. There was just something unearthly about them, but before she could discover more, she came across Lance committing a gruesome murder, and her whole world tipped into chaos. Dahlia, thinking she was next, fled the town for her life, never looking back, knowing that if he ever found her, she would be dead. Almost seven years have passed; she lives as Cora, an unknown writer in a big city. She was safe from her past, it seemed, and getting her life together. Or so she naively thought, until one night, when it seemed like all her dreams were coming true, she unexpectedly encountered her haunting past in the form of Lance Dvorak. The sweet kid she once knew finally has his mask down, and she can see the evil that had been lurking behind those eyes all this time. But mixed with all that evil was an obsession, one he wasn't willing to let go of even after so many years had passed. He had found her and was going to kill her, eliminating the only witness to his crime. Or was Dahlia wrong about what his obsession was about?

Forgive me if this sounds ungrateful, but I do not see how carrying the earth's largest and heaviest shield, for a ten-foot monster, up and down a hill twice a day, for more than forty days, is the opportunity of a lifetime. But why should my opinion on it matter anyway? My opinion means nothing. I mean nothing. My life is pointless. Worthless. Useless. ~A short monologue telling the story of David and Goliath from the perspective of Goliath's shield barrer~ Quick Note: This monologue was something I wrote in an assignment for my Creative Writing class. My teacher complimented it, I enjoyed writing it, and so I figured it might be fun to post here! I've left the story untouched since I first wrote it (besides a few grammar and spelling mistakes), so what you'll be reading is the original product. Thanks for considering reading! 'Campfire Conversations' are a collection of short stories retelling classic Bible stories from the old and new testaments. They follow two points of view: the POV of our story tellers, Martha and Lucius, and the POV of the people in the Bible accounts. These POVs are separated by the * symbol. 'David's Mighty Men' tells the story of three men in King David's army who went the extra mile to protect his kingdom and spark bravery in their fellows, when the Philistines had discouraged them all. For their courage and valiance, they earned themselves honourable mentions in 2 Samuel 23. These men are proof that trusting God for protection, and being bold even in times of tribulation, are qualities which only spread and sharpen those around you. When we are willing to risk it all, God can use us the most.

The Story of Ruth from the Bible but retold in a novel-like manner. This story is based on the book of Ruth, but it is not entirely accurate. There are bits of events that aren't mentioned in Scripture, though I do my best to stay true to the real story, only adding touches of romance and thrill. This book was made for educational, recreational, and spiritual purposes.

"Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God".... John 3:3 I absolutely love the time that Nicodemus spent with Jesus. I can only imagine the thoughts running through Nicodemus' head, as his eyes were upon the face of Jesus. The tender Jesus speaking softly, repeating His words to Nicodemus, so that Nicodemus' ears shall be opened, so his eyes shall see. Jesus says "if ye have ears to hear, hear". The truth is there for every one of us. God has no favorites, and His gift is for all. Many are called and yet few are chosen. If we shall seek, we shall find it. Nicodemus was a seeker. The honesty in Nicodemus' questions really gets to my heart. He was hearing words from Jesus he had never heard before, and he (Nicodemus) was a great teacher! He was sitting there, face to face with the Savior, speaking to the Savior, and hearing things he had never learned or taught. Isn't that the way it is today too? People may go to church all their lives, grow up in church and yet never hear the tender words, the pureness of truth from the Savior. They hear from man, and it is not the words of Jesus
