Just writing this for fun as I begin learning how to ride a bike, again.

The Wicked Garden is under attack and fighting back. Seed bombs, earthquakes, freak summer snowstorms-every Aleric and Pasque in Zalara knows that something is wrong, but no one can agree on what to do about it. All thirteen-year-old Violet Quiggle wants to do is protect the garden that she loves. Yet the adults just want her to focus on going off to school in autumn. Violet knows the adults know more than they are telling her, but even her friends among them will barely answer her questions or listen to her concerns. Then Master Gardener Fenn brings orphaned thirteen-year-old Pasque boy Onder to help him and Violet tend the Wicked Garden. Suddenly, Violet has something she's never had before: a friend her age, someone who will listen to her and share secrets with her. Together, they will explore the good and the bad of childhood as it turns over into their teenage years: riding bikes, indulging overbearing Anan Pasques, outwitting bullies, protecting their beloved wicked plants, and facing the unknown dangers surrounding Zalara. It will take more than two mischievous children to be heard above the sea of conflicted adults-but that won't stop them from trying. VIOLET QUIGGLE AND THE WICKED GARDEN combines the fun, friendship, and misadventure of Middle Grade fiction, the magical world building of fantasy, and a strong, imperfect, ever-growing female protagonist.

Commander Newcirk wanted to see some of my Neighborhood Bike Works stories written down. I struggled over whether to fictionalize them, or try to present the goings on as they happened. Reporting, recording, is tough; fiction even tougher. Therefore, only the names have been changed. I love the four-way homophone of "write right rite, wright," it even makes a sensible sentence. Too many others on the web have noticed that. Wheelwrights master those pi-dimensional troublemakers, two per bicycle, without which none of this would have been necessary. (Title explained.)

Haunted by a recurring nightmare, Celeste is surviving her last year of highschool under the care of her smalltown Aunt. Teenagers share the same disturbing dreams, and adults conspire behind closed doors. Midnight bicycle rides bring her to a ghost that shares her face. Celeste must unravel the generations old web of thorns, before she meets a gruesome end in the briar. Chapters posted weekly.
