Hawaii, the most isolated archipelago on earth, has never been more alone. Residents are unexpectedly cut off from power and the rest of the world without warning, left without imported resources and thousands of stranded tourists. Sheba, a volcanologist on the big island, is flabbergasted. She has no way to reach her family in Colorado or her colleagues in Washington state and Oregon, making her feel more alone than ever. Meanwhile, as Sheba struggles to keep herself and her pets fed, an infeasible and insidious takeover of the main land is underway and is on its way to the big island.

A couple goes on a vacation in Hawaii, the Big Island. They are on a way to Mouna Kea, a volcanic mountain with beautiful night views. The couple finds the environment creepy, despite the raves in the guide book. When two hitchhikers ask for a ride, they decide to say yes, showing the aloha spirit, little do they know what's about to happen.

Taylor Rameriez and Myles Sturm the couple that's been together since high school have moved into a house together. Myles works as a life guard at the Kawamoto Swimming Pool while Taylor is looking for a job. Taylor loves the beach and she's been thinking about working at a surf shop or at a shave ice shop.
