Metal Sonic is known by all as Eggman's most famous creation. The killer robot with no emotions, the "one-note jerk", one of the doctor's most deadly machines. Metal couldn't really forge an opinion about the animosity toward him. But is he truly incapable of emotion? There's somewhere he goes when he isn't ordered on a mission or at Eggman's side. This place must be special if Metal returns to it on his own.

Four-thousand years ago, before The Big Wave, the Knuckles Clan attempted to raid the Chaos Emeralds from Chaos, the protector of the Chao. Chief Pachacamac attacked Chaos, despite his daughter Tikal's warnings. The clan was quickly overwhelmed by the guardian's wrath, ravaging the land they lived on, fire surrounding every corner of it. To stop Chaos from causing anymore havoc, Tikal sealed herself and Chaos in the Master Emerald. ...But something went wrong. Instead of sealing the guardian and keeping him from causing more havoc, he tried to drain the Master Emerald of its energy and merge it within himself. With no other options, Tikal shattered the Master Emerald, leaving her and Chaos partially free, but unleashing the weakened version of Chaos' power out, causing what is known as The Big Wave. A cataclysmic flood that spread to several corners of the world and possibly others, effectively erasing Angel Island's history, and the Chaos Emeralds. The Chaos Emeralds have gone missing, their last known location are at 3 islands called, "The Starfall Islands," home to an ancient civilization that died off a long, long time ago. Along the way, they get sucked into a wormhole that traps Sonic and his friends into a mysterious realm called, "Cyberspace." Sonic escapes and finds himself on one of the islands. A mysterious voice calls to him and tells him to find the Chaos Emeralds, destroy the Titans, and tear down the walls between dimensions. Before Sonic could ask for questions, the mysterious voice sends Sonic a companion named, Athena. A mysterious woman who is supposedly an A.I. program. She lives on the Starfall Islands and knows the ins-and-outs. Unfortunately, almost all of her memory data was corrupted due to Cyberspace being shut down haphazardly. Together, Sonic and Athena will journey across the islands, rescue his friends, and discover a dark secret that could put Sonic's world at an unimaginable risk. Adapted from the "Sonic the Hedgehog" video game series and re-edited for a younger audience, this Japanese anime follows the adventures of Sonic and his friends after an explosion transfers them to the human world.
