Bill and Ted did win the Battle of The Bands, but techically was it future them. Now they have to live up to it, and manage to be excellent guitar players in 16 months. But during this time a lot happens, and they always have to remind themselves of the fact that their time is now no matter what have happened in the past or what will happen in the future.

Now it's up to them to save the future along with their kids Billie, Thea, and Logan before the universe vanishes from existence forever.
