Bill Standall has seen a lot of stuff during his career as a sheriff's deputy and has witnessed a lot of people who were experiencing a loss of some sort or experiencing fear of a loss. But he had not experienced the feelings himself ever. When his 17 year old son Alexander Dean Standall had done what he did to himself,the deputy's world shook,his mind went numb with shock and desperate hope that his boy would survive. When Alex survived the attempt,Bill Standall was relieved but the image of his boy lying on the floor shutting down was etched in the deputy's memory permanently. He had been afraid that he lost his son.
