As Steve breathes in the smoking from his newly lit cigarette his eyes close and he thinks of it again. The bright flashing lights, the awful smell, and the blood curdling scream let out by someone he couldn't remember. He blows out the smoke and slowly opens his eyes..𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶?

Billy is notorious for parties in Hawkins. Chugging beers, dancing with girls, smoking it up- oh yea, fun. But what wasn't expected from the brute was finding him in a gay bar outside of town. The other question was, why was Steve even there. Billy and Steve converse after he is spotted in his entirety, resulting in them getting into a physical altercation in the men's bathroom that quickly turned hot.

Steve had seen it coming, the day it all blew up in his face, the day his happy ending faded away right before his very eyes. Because he always knew it wouldn't last forever, how could it?

Steve breaks up with Billy because Billy destroys everything he touches and he has finally realized that. Or at least, that's what Billy thinks. Steve shows him how loving relationships actually work. or, alternatively: Billy Hargrove has typical trauma from childhood abuse and Steve is an amazing boyfriend. At the same time Billy struggles with his home life, his twisted romantic life and keeping school balanced he's also trying to wrap his head around what it means to be gay. In the 80s. He may try to avoid thinking about it, but no matter what he does his mind always comes back to sexuality. With one boy looking for comfort and protection and the other looking for answers, they might just find what they need in each other.
