Ella could feel their pain, their immense sorrow. He had been her brother, but he had chosen to cut himself off from his glorious birthright. She stepped forward and joined the embrace, her tears now flowing for her brother whom she had never met. As she hugged her father, a vivid memory long forgotten flew into her mind.
She was a glorious white dragon with eyes that burned blue with inner strength. She stood before a dark host of dragons, with one dark dragon in the front. Beside her was Jephusa, also as a white dragon, but with golden markings on his head, and the king and queen, both magnificent white dragons. Behind them, a numerous host of dragons stood, waiting for the call of their king. The dark dragon roared, "You fools! You would choose a life of hardship, trial, and death, rather than join me and live forever!"
Ella spoke, her voice rich and full of conviction, "Yes, I choose this, I choose because I know that this is the only way. Your way is safe, but there is no growth, no change. If I must die to truly become like our parents, I will."
