Marco knew what he was looking for when he summoned Acnologia. He wanted power. Something strong enough to push beyond his own limits, without fully understanding what he would have to sacrifice to obtain it. But when the Dragon King's soul becomes bound to his own, Marco is forced to confront something far more unsettling than the presence of Acnologia : what that presence reveals about himself. Acnologia does not need to convince him that he is a monster. He only has to push Marco toward this parts of himself, to achieve his own goals. Between the fear of losing himself and the temptation of a power he should never have possessed, Marco must discover how much of himself he is willing to sacrifice to become stronger. Because Marco did not accidentally find the Black Dragon, he sought him out. And now, Acnologia is inside him. Sooner or later, Marco will have to learn which of them is truly in control. A story of friendship and betrayal, love and obsession, power and its consequences, where the greatest battle may not be against the monster outside, but against the one slowly taking shape within.
