You could hear the amusement in his voice as he observed you, seeing no reason to be resentful or bitter about your opinion. Hesitantly, you took his hand. His fair skin was warmer than you had anticipated, but he was, after all, a demon. His smirk grew as your wrist was stained a blood red; a marking to seal a promise that could never be broken. "After all," he said as pain shot up your arm and engulfed your body. "You humans are the only species alive who fight for peace."
