Gabriela Mason has three goals for her life: don't crack under the weight of her father's expectations, survive high school by acting how everyone expects her to, and maybe finally get her three-year-long crush to notice her. All three seem fairly attainable, except her father's expectations have strained their relationship, and the cracks are beginning to show; pretending to be someone else at school is proving much harder as the years go on; and she can't even string out a full sentence when it comes to talking to her crush. Her goals seem even more unattainable than in previous years, and they definitely didn't include her childhood best friend, Cameron Matthews, moving back to her hometown with intentions of befriending her again; they didn't include ditching her father's plans for her life and finding out what she wants instead, nor potentially falling in love with the boy she once knew.
