Following the death of Aegon Targaryen the fourth, factionalism quickly took place in the court of his son, King Daeron the second. Daeron was good and noble, entwining the houses of targaryen and Martell and uniting Westeros under a King. Yet many of his lords resented him, favouring Aegons bastardborn son Daemon Blackfyre, who was gifted the Targaryens ancestral sword Blackfyre, a common symbol of legitimacy for Targaryen kings. The realm will soon split and decide the fate of their King, the Red dragon or the Black.
