Her parents gave her up to an orphanage when she was only a few months old. She grew up as the only black person in Tree hill orphanage. When she was five years old she got adopted by two white parents who had eight more kids from different orphanages at home. The parents only adopted the kids for the money provided by the state's and named the kids as numbers in the order of when they got them. 9 was the ninth kid. 9 could only call the parents Mr or Mrs. Growing up 9 had to go through racism and mental and physical abuse by Mr and Mrs. When she turns 17 she's allowed to go to a public school. This is her first time ever going to school since Mr and Mrs never allowed any of the children to go to school but people were getting suspicious. So they sent one child to a school. 9 was quiet and sat in the back of the class writing story's and songs. She had no friends but she liked it that way. 9 had developed bulimia but she would never tell anyone that. One day 9 went to school and got paired with Melvoni a dark skin black boy who was considered dangerously quiet. The other kids gossiped about how he transferred from New York City and was involved with a gang. The other kids also said he was trying to become a rapper. 9 knew of Melvoni but what she didn't know is that Melvoni had set eyes on her. Melvoni was possessive and dominant 9 was fairly innocent
