Yeah... they got caught way too fast. Zharia never planned to fall for Kairo - not the quiet, petty boy from the other side of the city. And she definitely ain't expect to still feel stuck on him years later, after everything he did. In a city full of messy Facebook posts, trap boys with secrets, girls who talk with they eyes, and group chat screenshots that ruin everything - these teens learn early: Love ain't soft. It's loud. It's real. It's toxic. And sometimes, the one who hurt you the worst... still yours.

Things I could never say out loud....🤭🤭 My feelings have been thrown around...stopped on the ground. Unsure on who to trust, but i tell myself it's a must. My heart heavy, chest filled with desire. I will perspire to be the best i can become...but i always end up making dumb decision... Boom. There goes my heart as it drops on the ground No tears come as it shatters everywhere.. Like always I look around for the pieces, I dig in my drawer for the half full super glue. Putting all the pieces on the table, I put my heart back together like a puzzle. FRAGILE...but it will still work...My heart mends...only for it to happen again. There goes my hard work. The same process over and over...My mind of stone and my heart of glass...How long before it breaks again...How long then will it take for my heart to mend? *Basically it's just poems in a story form of what's going on in my life. Please read, Its really good.*

Ain't got nothin', won't be nothin'. That's the motto that most of the boys from the east side of Brooklyn went by. Some of them were thieves, drug dealers, murderers, or even rapists. They were an array of criminals, but all for one reason - to get by. Then there were the others, the ones who were athletes or writers or engineers, talented people who actually had a ticket out of the hood. Then there were people in the middle who got along with everybody but never really chose one side. People like Max. When you float along in the river that is the ghetto, you may think you're unbothered, but there is always something waiting. There will always be a stick in the water, and for Max, it all came at the wrong time. Most of his friends were on the criminal side, but he was just about to get his one-way departure ticket before things came crashing down. There were only two possibilities: either he got stuck in the hood forever, or he lost his life. After living here for so long, you realize that those two are one and the same.
