Katsuo Yamamura was born and raised in Junrinan, the first district of West Rukongai. He'd been friends with this girl named Momo and even met her other friend, Toshiro. He joined the Shin'ō Academy with Momo, joining her class along with Renji and Izuru. He was in Izuru's place when the hollows attacked them first year and impressed Hisagi with his will and ability to use kidō.
