2019, California Meet the Killjoys: Party Poison, Fun Ghoul, Kobra Kid and Jet Star. Fighting against the corrupted Better Living Industries, they spend everyday risking their lives to try and save the innocent people of Battery City. Now meet 17 year old Sophie. For years she has dreamt of crossing the barriers into the unknown, to fight crime along with the infamous Killjoys. So one night; on a warm summer's evening, she does just that.

They were different from the other kids. While everyone else at their school was content with taking their pills and following orders, they were content with defying authority and questioning the corporation that ran their world. They never did anything too severe, nothing to attract the attention of any of the Better Living higher-ups. No, they knew if they were too extreme then they'd end up in a re-education facility. That is, until they get fed up with being quiet. They're about to snap and do something really stupid, but it's fine. They'll be long gone by the time anyone important shows up. It's their last day of high school, their last day in the city, and they're ready to make some noise and leave with a bang.

Lucky and his friends are back, taking on BLI with the help of a couple unexpected friends. All Lucky wants to do is fight, not listen to Silver's lectures about opening up again. He knows he has to avenge Maria's death, but he can't think about her for more than a minute without his schizophrenia returning. Worst, M and the bases' secrets are revealed and he wonders which government he should really be fighting. When all that he could trust is gone, who will Lucky turn to?
