Blind since birth, Toph was constantly treated like a baby because of her impairment , particularly by her overprotective parents, Lao and Poppy Beifong. However, growing up developing a seismic sense, she learned how to use her quirk 'Earth-bending' as an extension of her senses. This gives her the ability to "see" every vibration that passes through the ground. after a lot of tough convincing, she finally got her parents to reluctantly sign her up for U.A. but along with her blindness, there were many other obstacles for her to face on her journey to become a hero.
