A little boy stood beside her. He couldn't have been older than four. His cheeks were flushed from the cold, his dark eyes wide and calm in a way children shouldn't be at this hour. He wore bear-printed pajamas and a fluffy coat that swallowed his tiny frame. In a place where everything was falling apart, something had just found her. And it wasn't an accident. A place where loss sat beside hope. A place where two broken souls met. A place where something would finally... blossom.
