"Mashallah naam toh bht pyaara h"Mehek chachi said. "Sirf naam se kisi ke baare mein pata nhi chal jaata"Dadijaan said and I sighed. I know it is going to be difficult to convince her. "Woh bht acchi ladki h Dadijaan"I signed and she just stared at me and didn't say anything. "Ladki kya krti h??"Nargis Chachi asked when nobody said anything. "Apne parivaar ka karobaar sambhalti h"I signed and Dadijaan raised her eyebrows hearing that. "Kaam krne wali ladki h?"Dadijaan asked and I nodded my head at that. "Aur woh musalmaan nhi h,Hindu h"I signed and waited for the dam to brake now. 𝙈𝙚𝙞 𝙎𝙖𝙩𝙤-𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙢𝙚. A 16-year-old girl from Dallas, Texas. On the surface, I'm just a normal teenager at a normal high school. My grades are solid, nothing worse than a B. I'm not exactly the perfect role model, though. I smoke, drink and sometimes even try weed but not too often. Still, I actually think my life is pretty beautiful. We're not super rich, but we're not poor either just comfortably middle class. Maybe I should tell you more about me. I've got fairly light skin and even though I love the beach, I always end up red instead of tan. My hair is black with a blue sheen and my eyes are green. I'm 5'8 and I care a lot about my style and how I present myself. That's probably enough for now-because I still have to pack my suitcase. Why? Well... you'll find out when you hit read.

A simple collection describing what it feels like to be me. With the criticism from my skin-tone and how I'd try to use my voice to make a huge difference. Which I still hope I do. Also this will be about parts of my life where I wish I wasn't myself (as usual). But myself as of like not wanting to be in the skin I'm in. This is not just about a movement. It's about how far I and many others can say they come. From chains that were tight and shackles that were meant to keep me and them down. But to be freed from both the weight of the yoke (my history), the captivity, the chains and shackles that kept me bound. In place... to where no one could move. This alone is a story but I hope through the thrill of my poems you will be able to understand that at an early age I've learned that my skin is a burden but also a blessing to those bestowed upon it. I never actually thought that my perception on matters... you know mattered.
