Tyler Joseph is a shy, straight-A student whose idea of socializing is writing lyrics in his notebook. He's laser-focused on one goal: getting into MIT. All he needs now is a glowing recommendation from his history teacher-but there's a catch. His final grade hinges on an "interactive social project," and he's been randomly paired with the last person he'd ever talk to: Lisa Cole. Lisa is cheer captain, Instagram famous, and the undisputed queen of the senior class. She's also fresh off a messy breakup, drowning in prom prep, and dangerously close to failing history. When her dad threatens to pull her from the cheer team if her grades don't improve, Lisa is forced to take the project seriously-no matter how much of a "quiet weird kid" Tyler seems to be. At first, they couldn't be more different. But as the week unfolds, Tyler realizes there's more to Lisa than selfies and lip gloss-she's funny, sharp, and hiding a lot more than anyone suspects. Meanwhile, Tyler's best friend Josh-loud, loyal, and everything Tyler isn't-finds himself crushing hard on Lisa, throwing the trio into a complicated tangle of feelings, friendships, and choices. Anathema: someone or something that one vehemently dislikes, an abhorrence, abomination, accursed. Someone or something consigned to damnation or destruction. Platonic Joshler Life can get pretty difficult when your only two friends are imaginary, and it's even harder when they're not exactly the most positive people on the planet. Tyler is used to that, though, and he's used to pretending they're not there when other people are around. It wasn't so bad, at first, but now that one of them is bent on getting rid of the other, he's having his doubts. Something is very wrong in Tyler's hometown. The church services, the storms that overtake the town, the woods on the edge of the town's limits that people disappear in. Josh doesn't like the way that he suddenly has to follow all of the rules upon moving there, either. ~in the process of rewriting~ Tyler Joseph. Just your normal 17 year old, right? Well, not exactly. Tyler struggles with schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder. He hears a total of three voices who all taunt him almost every chance they get. One voice, who happens to be his alter, has earned the name Blurryface. Tyler has struggled with the voices and Blurryface as long as he can remember. They were at their worst a few years ago, calmed down, and are now starting to get bad again. (Short story) Tyler is a goner, he's been struggling with his thoughts for as long as he could remember. But now he's given up, Blurry wins. He was bullied and beaten. He let his mind take over. He had nobody and he has bad mental health issues. Tyler is only 15 and his mind controls his life, he has no friends and nobody is here to save him. Until Josh. Josh Dun comes along and tries to help Tyler battle his mind that he called Blurryface or Blurry for short. He meets new friends and goes through a lot of shit until eventually the battle with Blurry begins. All that matters is that Tyler defeats him and then and only then can he get on with life and enjoy it, but with an abusive parent and bad mental health issues it is gonna be hard. Can Josh save him? Can Tyler save himself and defeat Blurryface? Or will all end in tragedy........
