SummerForever13
I never expected to actually win the scholarship.
Lucas Preparatory School is a country club masquerading as a high school, hidden away on a gorgeous, sun-drenched island. It's all manicured green lawns, yacht docks, and students walking around in expensive pastel uniforms, repeating the school's ridiculously intense mantra: Long live the school.
I'm just Darcy-the girl who saved up for months just to buy a nice black dress for the welcome dinner. I figured I'd blend into the background, keep my head down, and secure my GPA. But Lucas Prep thrives on competition. Every single year, the student houses battle it out in the Founders' Regatta-a massive, high-stakes summer rowing festival that basically decides your social status for the rest of your life.
And somehow, I just accidentally landed the lead spot steering the underdog house boat.
Which brings me to Dean Carter.Dean is the school's golden boy. He's the star rower, the rugby captain, and the heir to a luxury empire. He looks at me with these cold, entirely unimpressed eyes that say I don't belong here.
But as the summer heat cranks up, Dean and I keep crashing into each other. He thinks I'm a distraction to his team's legacy. I think he's a spoiled snob who is used to getting whatever he wants.
To keep my scholarship, I have to beat his undefeated crew on the water. But the closer we get to race day, the more the tension between us starts to feel less like rivalry... and a lot more like attraction.
Lucas Prep is used to the golden boys winning everything. But this year, I'm about to rock the boat.
