(An original horror story written by me. I've been wanting to submit an original fic in a long while, but other than fanfictions, I've not had much ideas or many plans for potential plots. It's a first-person POV, and the reader is gender neutral. Trigger warning: mention of drowning and potential death.) In the 1970s, all this teen wants to do is celebrate their sixteenth birthday with their friends, and what better way to do that than to go on a fishing trip on the ocean? like they usually did about a few times a month. Much to the dismay of the protagonist's mother, they all go and rent a boat from the grizzled old boatman known locally as Mr 'Catfish' Collins. However, while the fishing trip goes on, things take a turn for the worse when the protagonist goes overboard, only to find a true horror lurking beneath....

This story is about sixteen year old Tara who decides to take her chance and go for the "school over water" boat trip. For half a year she'll get taught on a ship with thirty other students and will be able to explore many new countries from around the world. Who doesn't love diving, surfing, campfires, new friends and sightseeing tours? But life is not like in the movies. Turbulences, homesickness and hard decisions must be endured. And what plans does Love have for Tara?
