A year after saving Bob's Burgers, The Harpercops invite the Belchers to their home town to try out their favorite burger restaurant, Good Burger. There the family meets employees Dexter and Ed and must help them save Good Burger from going out of business from their rival restaurant, Mondo Burger.

The Belcher family is all under one roof again for an entire summer. Fresh out of college Tina returns home in search of inspiration for her summer essay before she's off to Boston for grad school in the fall. Past friendships mend and old love rekindles causing the eldest Belcher to question why she came back and if she's willing to leave again. Meanwhile Louise has just graduated high school and is ready to let loose before being sent off to college. Navigating the precipice of adulthood the youngest Belcher is bound to stumble, especially when love has her tripping with every other step she takes forward. Gene might have moved out but he never truly left and now he's glad to be back with a not so new boyfriend in tow. Thinking that a summer back at home will help him finally pop the big question he drags his boyfriend back to where it all started for them. Except decisions of the heart can't be made so easily.
