a somewhat modern AU this story is based in the modern world but there's still some details from the original settings in it as well. xiao's birth was a beautiful but karmic one. he was born for the purpose of only tragedy and karma. he was born with everything he could ever hope for but his karma stripped everything from him. there was no light in his heart, only the darkness of his karma. that is, until he met aether.
