Tavi was raised a dragon hunter. Her childhood was survival, traps, and learning how to kill dragons before they killed you. So when a massive Boneknapper decides she's his human and refuses to leave her alone, Tavi assumes something has gone terribly wrong. Then things get worse. Now she lives on Dragon's Edge with Hiccup and Astrid, a Boneknapper named Rattle who thinks she's worth protecting, a frog army that follows her around, and an egg she has absolutely no idea how to raise. Between hunters, dragon battles, accidental frog attacks, and feelings she definitely didn't sign up for, Tavi is slowly learning something she never expected: Maybe family isn't something you're born into.
