This is my first fanfiction ever.I love this movie a lot and I've been hyperfixating on it for a while so yeah. The reader is made intentionally for black readers but anyone can read it, the reader will go by they/she pronouns, they are more on the masculine side outfit wise because that's how I am. But anyway onto the summary~! (Y/N) is the sibling in the shadow of the "Jewel" Maria Posada, despite being the older sibling. She had the friends, the beauty even the boys breaking their back for her. But you don't care all that you want is your sister to be okay and live an amazing life, to make sure she ends up with a good man especially. While being in the shadow of your younger sister your eyes have been set on a certain young soldier, an oblivious one at that, but anyway, this is about you not Maria, Manolo, or Joaquin. Since your sister is quite the troublemaker and you are the older sibling you get to suffer the consequences along with your sister. I do not own The Book of Life or any of its characters, I only own (Y/N) and their dialogue.

The problem with the love triangle of Maria, Manolo, and Joaquin is that it's not a triangle at all. Alvera, a fourth friend, has always been in love with him since they were kids...the problem is she's a demigod. For 10 years, she has been coming out of the godly realms and back to be in the land of the living to spend time with her friends. But now the four friends have grown up together, and they endured the separation when Maria left for Spain. Alvera has had Manolo for 10 years...and all she's done is help both of her friends win over the same girl while keeping her secret. How will she write her story? *Note: none of the art is mine!!
