A fanfiction for The Book Thief by Markus Zusak with an alternative ending. After having been sent to a faraway Elite Youth organization, Rudy Steiner comes back to see the end of his world. Defeated yet furious, him and Liesel run away to help the Jews and put an end to Hitler's words once and for all. I highly suggest you read The Book Thief before reading this story, otherwise it won't make much sense. UPDATE MAY 2020: So... It's been a while! I started writing this when I was 12. I'm 16 now, and obviously a lot has changed, but I really, really want to continue this, even if just a few of you are still here. I apologize for making you wait so long, and thank you so much for supporting me even after all this time. Basically? I'm finishing this.

The decade: Early 1950s, perhaps late 1940s. The setting: A small city, somewhere outside New York City. There lives a single mother and her daughter. Like most mothers, she would sacrifice anything to keep her child safe, happy, healthy. It's a little late. She loves her more than life itself. That's what takes her down when unfortunately, a sunny day with ice cream turns into... a sunny day with splattered ice cream, splattered guts, and her daughter's death. Oh and I forgot to mention, splattered hearts. At her funeral, a stranger approaches her. Someone uninvited whom she can't seem to recall. He has a knack at reading people, knowing what they're about to say before they do and knowing what they choose not to say, their secrets. He's a guest at the present, however she can't tell how long he's been at the party, and how long he's here to stay.

I felt like writing these poems for no apparent reason. People read them and said that they were good so here it goes. P.S. I wrote these when I was 12. They are most likely very cringey so forwarning you.

This chapter goes in the epilogue, before The Handover Man and after Max.

A story set in East Germany in 1961. As Germany struggles, so do 6-year-old Sophie and her 3-year-old brother Otto. With a 15 foot wall separating them from their Papa they need to find a way across... or die trying. A story about the Berlin Wall and inspired by The Book Thief. Work in progress :)
