After defeating Isshiki at the cost of losing Kurama, Naruto was never the same. Although he continued to resist the Ōtsutsuki clan for many years, he was eventually killed by some of its most powerful members. In his final moments, the overwhelming emotions of grief and reluctance caused Naruto's/Ashura's soul to resonate with a fragment of Shibai Ōtsutsuki's soul. Centuries earlier, Shibai had been betrayed by his own clan, who sought to acquire his shinjutsu and prevent his ascent to divinity. This newfound connection provided Naruto with a chance to alter his destiny and embark on an unprecedented path.
