Rattlehead... Shaky hands... Tired brown eyes' pupils.. Very comfy and loose-fitting clothes... The kid was waiting for an unexpected catastrophy, paradoxically. The latest news that he was hearing every night on TV had led him to be paranoid about the world, the conditions he was living in and worstly, his own life path. He could be gunned down on the street by a scary stranger or become a horrible victim of a terrorist bomb attack in a random coffee shop, a movie theater or on the street surrounded by suspicious trash cans on every corner. The boy started to bite his nails. The waiter asked him if he wanted to order anything. The kid, suddenly, leaving all his worries aside, looked vibrant and ordered a milk shake. 'Altab Nagari' is named after a neighborhood who was founded by Mr. Altab Hossein. Right after the 1951 partition, Altab Hossein made a sweetshop whose recipe attracted various people, especially among the youngsters because of its least cost prices, compare to the other ones which are quite expensive. Then, the area was named as 'Altab Nagari', due to a hangout place. Despite its success, the world became competitive, until the last of the generations: only three- teenagers Ikhon, Arhan, George and an only leader on his 20s, Hablu, along with the parental folks kept the shop alive. Plant a tree. Fight a bull. Write a book. Have a son. Ernest Hemingway said that these four steps would help any boy become a man. What could possibly go wrong? *I also wanted to say a huge thank you to @SassyRedWritingHood for her amazing cover.*

From "Tales of a Texas Boy," this story is in the category of almost-true tall tales. The entire book is made up of stories my father told me. The veracity cannot be verified, but I believed all his stories were entertaining. The gist is my father, who was the quarterback of his football team in HS, was traveling with his team for a state championship. When they stopped at a cafe, a very famous person happened to be there. She though my dad was pretty cute.

I've received my share of gifts in my lifetime - not more than most people and probably not less than most. I've liked some, felt a bit indifferent about others, and absolutely loved a few of them. The ones that touched me most were received in boyhood. There's just something about childhood that is magical when a gift is special. I recall a miniature pinball machine, an electric train set, Electric Football, and my new PM-9 baseball glove. I loved that glove! It was a Rawlings PlayMaker (PM) 9 model, just perfect for a 10-year-old kid. Some things you just don't forget, no matter the number of years ago. And I don't just mean the looks of the glove, but you just don't forget the feeling of owning it and wearing it. Only childhood could offer these feelings. "My New Glove" is about getting the glove, caring for it, and anxiously waiting for the warmer weather to break so that I could use it. The poem is written in the words of a 10-year-old boy. It is supposed to lack any sophistication. If I were to have written this in third person as an adult narrator telling about the boy and his new glove, I think much of the charm might have been somewhat sacrificed.
