Set in a Sydney private school, in 1979, a group of twelve -year-old boys band together to plan an audacious lunchtime escape, right under the noses of their authoritarian teachers. And their objective? To scoff down a Big Mac at their local McDonald's.
Inspired by Paul Brickhill's classic novel of a similar name - together with the 1963 movie - "The Great-ish Escape" is a story of mateship, cunning, daring and gluttony.
All the events are based on what actually happened in author's imagination when he was a wee lad. If asked, the school would deny that the escape ever happened.
