A short story composed and formatted not by the main character, but by the eyes that could see what a red umbrella can do to those under it. The story takes place in the midst of a coffee shop. The place is quiet besides the small chatter between students and the pitter-patter sounds of the outside rain. Someone storms in with anger in their eyes. They yell and scream at the timid girl behind the till. "She cried. Said it wasn't her fault. Said that it wasn't her fault. He kept screaming." The red umbrella will always be there. Taunting us. And love will die.

When a person is hurt too many times by the same person,they turn in to what I like to call a soulless person, at least for a short period of time. We all go through this process, where we get hurt so bad that we crumble, we shatter into a zillion pieces,where we get to a point that we don’t even recognize the person staring back at us in the mirror.Then one day we finally wake up from the “zombie/shattered/lost” period we were in, pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and build a stronger, smarter, more stable, brand new us.

Based on true events weaved into a story of a place only known to outsiders as the village, but to all inside the gates they live in the place that follows them and controls them . This story covers the struggles of a Alya a girl living in the dictatorship known to no one but her peers, it covers her struggles with depression living in a society that controls all she is and knows all she is . Until that sadness turns to rage and with the help of new outspoken friend they plan to escape and never come back. This is a short story about a stranged couple inspired by the poem 40-love by Roger McGough. In this poem the game of tennis is used as a metaphor for the dynamics of a long-term relationship. I thought that the best way to appropriate the poem, and in a sort of way insert myself into it, was to write about what happens when the couple gets home after playing a tennis match.

Mia has been looking for them, following leads for months. John's been helping her to keep distracting himself from his grief. He was still mourning Clarise but he was getting through it, slowly. Esme found happiness with Leah, she was still trying to find her place in the Underground but she was getting through it. Lorna and Marcos missed their daughter, they wanted to be with her but they couldn't, not yet. Jace Turner was still looking for The Mutant Underground. He was so close to finding them. He was on Andy and Lauren's trail. It was only a matter of time before he found them. The Inner Circle was quiet, too quiet.
