Born the youngest of six children to Ethelwulf of Wessex and his wife Osburga, Alfred was never meant or expected to be King of Wessex, the greatest of the English Kingdoms of the time. Through battle and sickness Alfred was thrust into the Kingship as a young man suffering with Ulcerative Colitis and facing down the Great Heathen Army, the largest Viking army ever assembled up to that time by the grandsons of Ragnar Lothbrok, hell bent on taking all of England. Faced with such dangers Alfred nearly faltered, but his faith in God, his people, and his elder brother Edwulf helped him pull through. In this biography, created through using both documents close to the time period such as the Anglo Saxon Chronicles, Asser's biography of the King, and retrocognition, the ability to see the past through dreams, I tell Alfred's life story from his time in Rome as a boy to the great Battle of Ethandune where England's fate was decided.

One empire fights for its soul. The other fights for its ledger. Canton, 1839. The Pearl River is a graveyard of secrets, choked by the hulls of British merchant ships and the sweet, sickly scent of "Foreign Mud." To the West, opium is the perfect commodity-the silver-maker that balances the scales of the British Empire. To the East, it is a poison dissolving the Mandate of Heaven. When Commissioner Liang Wei arrives with a mandate from the Emperor to choke the trade at its source, he sets a match to a powder keg that has been dry for centuries. Four lives collide in the smoke: The Patriot: A rigid moralist who believes righteousness can outgun a fleet. The Merchant: A pragmatist who views addiction as a mere variable in a balance sheet. The Scholar's Son: A brilliant youth whose descent into the pipe mirrors his nation's decay. The Court Insider: A survivor who knows that the loudest voices for war often hide the deepest corruption. From the opulent tea houses of the Thirteen Factories to the blood-stained decks of the Royal Navy's steamships, The Opium Wars is a sprawling epic of systemic collapse. In a world where honor is traded for silver and morality is obscured by a cloud of white smoke, there are no heroes-only the survivors of a century of humiliation. History is written in ink. It is erased in blood.

Majestic castles, gilded halls, and the cold touch of stone walls conceal a world filled with intrigue, betrayal, and forbidden love. She is a princess, raised at court, accustomed to rules and luxury, yet yearning within her golden cage. He is a knight whose fame echoes across the land, bound in steel and sworn to loyalty to the crown. Their meeting was meant to be a coincidence... but became the beginning of a story that would change their destinies. Secret glances, whispered conversations in the shadowed gardens, quiet words they would never dare speak in the presence of others... They knew they were never meant to be. Yet the tighter the chains of duty grew, the closer they were drawn to one another. When the royal court fills with rumors, and envious eyes search for the slightest cause for betrayal, their love becomes a deadly secret. And one day, she will have to make a choice - to fight for him until the end or lose him forever. This is a tale of a love that endured wars, betrayal, and separation... yet could not defeat fate. To her, he represents authority and power. To him, she spells sedition and danger. Orphaned at birth, Cecily Neville owes more than her name to the former hospitallers of Temple Roding. She was still a child when the reformation wrenched her home and adopted family from her and now, like the few surviving monks, she lives in fear that her past could take a deadly toll. Her closest friend is her precious peregrine falcon, Charlemagne. Her greatest enemy is Allan Smythe, the new owner of Temple Roding. Grieving over the loss of both wife and child, Smythe throws his heart and soul into reviving the old hospitaller commandery that he's bought in partnership with his brother-in-law, Kennett Clark. He can't risk being distracted by the mysterious but tempting Cecily and her murdering bird. However, when Smythe is forced to save her from his brother-in-law's lecherous clutches, the unscrupulous Kennett vows to destroy them both. On a knife-edge, Smythe can't afford to relax the rents owed by Cecily and her fellow villagers. If he doesn't demolish her former home for profit, he risks losing everything to Kennett. But when necessity forces him to employ Cecily, there's more at stake than his future and his battered heart. Something lies hidden in the depths of the hospitaller commandery that could solve all of Smythe's problems... or threaten his life. It all depends on whether he, or the very determined Cecily, finds it first.
