The enchanted woods around Thorne Estate are beautiful, ancient, and hungry.
When Lord Thorne finds a lost child in the mist, he brings him home.
Vaeren, a quiet orphan marked by survival and a magic that grows darker and stronger with time, bending the elements he was never taught to fear.
Caelia, the estate's fierce heir, is the only one who sees past the silence and the shadows. Their bond forms slowly over the years.
But the world outside the woods is cruel, and alliances are heavier than love.
When Vaeren is forced from the estate, old wounds turn into grudges. Years later, he returns. Richer, remade by anger and ambition, carrying the belief that he was left behind by the one person who mattered.
A story of longing, resentment, and love tangled in silence and storm.
**Author's Note**
This short story was written for The Wuthering Heights Reimagined Contest.
I don't live in the U.S., so I know I'm not eligible to win the prize, but honestly, I didn't write this for that. I wrote it because I love this kind of story and couldn't get it out of my head.
Wuthering Heights has always stuck with me.
This is my take on that feeling, just told in my own way.
Maybe one day I develop this more, instead of being a short story withso many details being left out.
Thanks for reading and letting me share this anyway.
