After wandering North to the Commonwealth, becomes a hired muscle in Diamond City where he befriends a detective synth named Nick Valentine. It was during a mission when he encountered the Vault Dweller Nora who eerily resembled the Lone Wanderer of Vault 101, his idol. Seeing not much option he joins Nora as he fights his own personal demons and later reuniting with MacCready, his childhood friend.
