"My son," Eddie finally says, dragging Buck out of his mind, "I'm trying to reach my son." He shows Buck a picture so darn cute of a little boy - the son - on Eddie's back. They're standing all smiling next to an older woman. If Buck had ovaries, they'd most likely explode at the sight. "No way!" he yells over the sirens of the truck, "You've got a kid? I love kid!" Eddie nods. "Christopher. He's seven, he's all I have," he adds, brows meeting as he looks down again to the picture. "His mother's not in the picture." Buck's stomach churns painfully. He's met plenty of single parents since he became a dad, but most of the time, it's a mom whose baby daddy ran away, not the other way around. We don't often hear about mothers abandoning the nest. For the past three years, Buck has felt very alone in all this. He pulls his phone out, handing it to Eddie, "Mine's three," he says, crunching his nose with a smile, "It's just us." He then adds, tilting his head so his eyes can meet Eddie's more easily. or : what if Buck and Eddie met the exact same way except Buck had a three years old daughter ?

How could Eddie just say he was leaving the 118? Did Buck really mean so little to him that he could just leave without talking to Buck? Buck felt his world stop spinning and come crashing down around him. But one argument leads to the most important confession of Buck's life. Will that confession be enough to make Eddie change his mind or will he take more convincing? It's not always easy for Buck to express how he feels but it's even harder for Eddie to do it. Buck doesn't need easy, he needs Eddie and Eddie needed Buck even if he didn't know it yet. "Y-y- you're leaving?" I stammered, "how? Why? After everything we've been through?" "Buck it's more complex than that," Eddie responded, "I have to think about Christopher." "Christopher is a scared kid Eddie, but this is bigger than him." I replied, "You're not making this decision because of Chris, you're just using that as an excuse."

Disclaimer: I don't own any of 9-1-1 rights, this story is a fanfic I've been dreaming about since a couple of months. Finally, this story takes places in 2024 to 2028 so beware of the flashbacks. eddie looked out the window of bobbys office. buck and christopher laughed as buck picked up chris and threw him over his shoulder. "some things are just more important." eddie said, more to himself than to bobby. buck looked in the window and motioned for eddie to come out. eddie turned his head to bobby, "tell them to keep their money". and with that, eddie ran over to the two people he cared about most in the world. because when he was with them, nothing else mattered. this was exactly where he wanted to be.
