Eddie came back to LA with Christopher after a painfully long 8 months. And Buck was over the moon, truly! He just forgot that Eddie was really good at making friends and didn't need him anymore. Not like he used to. He just wished Eddie would look at him occasionally.

Eddie is late to a holiday gathering of the fire fam. He goes through the motions.

"we were the king and queen of our castle, protecting it at all costs,"

We're going down over highway 20," he said quickly, Eddie taking a deep breath before trying to help steady the copter and not crash too severely. "This is your fault, I hope you know. If you say a word to Evan, I'll tell him you're in love with him," Tommy hissed, pulling hard on the wheel. Eddie tossed him a harsh glare, making sure his belt was secured and preparing for the crash. "I don't give a fuck, you tell him whatever you want. I'm not letting you cheat on my best friend," he snapped, his hand tightening on the handle. Or, Tommy was taking Eddie on "dates" while dating Buck, and Eddie didn't know until they were 5000 meters in the air in a helicopter. He's not about to betray his best friend like that.

Eddie makes his choice; it's time. "Maybe they are closer than you think, Buck," Eddie whispers into Buck's ear. Buck stiffens, and Eddie doesn't panic. He waits it out. Buck takes a deep breath and tightens his hold around Eddie's ribs. Buck leans back and looks into Eddie's eyes. Eddie reaches up and wipes the tear away from under Buck's eye. He slides his hand down to cup Buck's jaw. "Can I?" Eddie asks, and Buck gives him a very firm nod of approval. Eddie pushes up on the balls of his feet and softly presses his lips to Buck's.
