So when Buck approached him an hour into their next shift, wary and exhausted, Eddie didn't look at him.
"Hey," Buck tried quietly and Eddie gave a flat hum. "Um, how- how was your days off?"
"Nothing impressive. Did some chores, finished that one movie I'd been meaning to. You know, the life of a single parent," Eddie snapped and Buck's breath hitched sharply.
Regret filled him immediately, Eddie looking up shocked. "Buck-" he cut off as Buck shook his head, smiling roughly before leaving just as fast as he had arrived.
