Joanne Barnes is the White Crow. Crows are loyal, smart birds. White is the colour of purity and new begginings. So why does Joanne fell like the filthiest 11 year old alive? Probably because she's caused the death of dozens of people at the hands of Hydra, working alongside her brother, the Winter Soldier. Both were brainwashed, of course, but that doesn't make either of them feel less guilty. Luckily, sooner or later they will escape Hydra's cruel, controlling hands. She was the reason Bucky enlisted. When she was fourteen, a German bomb plane flew over their house. The explosion killed their father, gave their mother serious injuries and paralyzed Belladonna. That year, Bucky enlisted (and was actually drafted but he was so eager to fight) and joined the 107th infantry. Two years later, the devastating train incident happened. A few days later, Hydra broke down the Barnes' door and held the mother and daughter at gunpoint. Right before Belladonna's eyes, her mother was slaughtered. The Red Skull took mercy on Belladonna after seeing her frail state, if 'mercy' is what you call endless days of torturous operations to 'fix' her. I DO NOT OWN ANY MARVEL CHARACTERS. After the first failed attempt of Abraham Erskine's serum, Johan Schmidt, and Steve Rogers' successful second one, the beginnings of SHIELD and some of Erskine's team work together to get a third try. They use the newly recovered serum they found in Steve's blood on a young volunteer, Rebecca Barnes.
