Being a perfect Christian daughter is bullshit. I am somebody that likes to express myself with how I look. My appearance is the only thing that seems to get another's attention. 15 year old Mae Campbell was always a happy girl, as soon as she entered the room everyone couldn't help but smile. Her family was considerately normal, always cared for her, gave her restrictions and freedom to do what she wanted to an extent. Then all of a sudden her life, family and friendships seemed to crash down, spiralling out of her control meaning the only thing she could control from then on was what she ate. Explore her struggle with eating disorders and how even the most 'perfect' of people can be ridiculed by this thieving disease. Hi guys! This story is one that is extremely close to heart as it's something I've personally struggled with, saying this it doesn't mean that all the issues the character of Mae goes through are ones I've been through so I would appreciate to have respect for opening up about these issues that I and so many other boys and girls go through and have been through. The narrator of the story is brought up to a world that others would deem a fantasy and dream world. It is filled with stupendous scenery and is inhabited by angels. A floating peculiar object appears on the day of birth of the narrator. Every year the object comes closer to the ground, and the narrator is excited to discover and unravel its mystery. What happens to the object on the narrator's 13th birthday? Read to find out! Silence is a short symbolic and fictional story that revolves around the issue of how mental illnesses (depression, anorexia, bulimia, anxiety etc.) creeps upon an individual as they grow into their teens. It also talks about how ones perspective of the world changes as they grow older and how our thought process changes. Story starts on a light note, however with every paragraph story will become dark and darker. In order to fully fathom the meaning, the reader will have to look beyond the typed words on the scree and truly understand what each sentence symbolises. Can be related to any of your struggles.
