After the War 20 years ago, the world has taken a dramatic step back in time. The world is now similar to the Medieval times but to Eric this is all he has ever known. Cities stay as they are and life goes on. But when his father is kidnapped and taken to The Barren- the area between Cities which stretches for miles, full of wild things and the unknown- Eric finds out about what happened in the War and why he means so much to the survival of the world he knows and loves. One night Niall was just relaxing by the fireplace until somebody knocked on his door. And that's how his evening went in a slightly different direction than what was he expecting. [REWRITING] Skylar didn't expect someone to break into her house. She didn't expect the the burglar to be attractive. She didn't expect her cookies to burn. She didn't expect her cake to catch on fire. She didn't expect her house to catch on fire. Nor did she expect to faint. She really didn't expect the burglar to save her. But here's the best part... She didn't expect the burglar to want something in return. Lesson Learned: Expect the Unexpected. [WARNING: Mild Swearing]
