4 years after the events of Pokemon Sun and Moon. Sun, now 18 years old continues to reign as Champion in Alola. The Pokemon Battling World Championship is on the horizon and Sun has his heart set on competing in it. That's not all his heart is set on though. Sun wants to see his old friend Lillie again after she left Alola 4 years ago. With the first round of the World Championship in Kanto, will Sun be able to make his way in to the tournament, and if he does will he able to find Lillie once again?

Nate, a Scientist from the Sinnoh region, has been invited to travel to Alola for a business conference about Pokémon conservation with the Aether Foundation. Bringing his friend Perci along, he hopes to study how Pokémon in Alola evolve, as well as see an Alolan form Raichu in person, as he's only heard about them; he might even get first-hand experience with Z-Moves! But he might have decided to take his trip a little too late, as something seems to be happening above the skies of Alola.
