A gothic style short story. Boyd's mother is dead -murdered if you ask him- and his mind is whirling. After accidentally exacting revenge, Boyd is brought to a major life junction, fess up or cover up. Is it possible to escape the past or does it haunt the living more than the dead do?

"Nobody knows how the fire started. At first people had said it was a bomb. Then they said it was a blown fuse. One of the more popular ideas was that the engine exploded. Theories as to how it started swirled around, but no definite cause has been found. All that is known is that the fire moved quickly, quicker than most who attempted to escape, including us. Almost nobody left unharmed. You had jumped over me, protecting me with your body. Nobody expected you to survive, but here you are."

Amber, A young boy, has had a prosthetic mask ever sense age 4 thanks to a fire incident in his home when he was only 1. Now, he's around 12 and had dyed his hair royal blue and wears pigtails, sometimes even braids. He gets called the burnt kid all the time, or Amber and Ashes. Sometimes he get called Ember instead of Amber, just to reference the fire. He could care less. This is his life. (Inspiration by Sally Face)
