Angelica Schuyler, one of Maria's only friends, invites her over for the night. Maria gets to meet the two other Schuyler sisters officially. Both Peggy and Eliza fall for Maria immediately. Maria doesn't know who to choose and doesn't want to break one of their hearts. Without Maria, Peggy feels bored, as if she was waiting for something.
