Mark Smith is one of the many bushrangers working for master Rudolph in the Underground Bushranger Society. They steal gold from normal miners and give it all to Master Rudolph. Their lives aren't the best, but they are better than the average diggers life. One small room each, one portion of damper each night, many people robbed. This is daily life for Mark as he's been underground for 10 years, but Mark has had enough with working for the vain selfish and mean Master Rudolph, and he wants to see his family in Hungary. So he commits the biggest crime, just do he can escape and see his family. When you jump down the hole and enter the Underground Bushranger Society though, there's no going back.

A short story with a historical basing. It was written for a short story contest and the concept came from a dream.

Before the Kelly Gang made their last stand at Glenrowan, there were many other stories to tell of the various characters who occupied Kelly Country. This collection of short stories depicting figures and events from the lives of those who were involved in the story of Ned Kelly is full of human drama and vivid dramatisation of the tail end of the Victorian era.
