Toshiro was known throughout the whole soul society as the coldest captain. Not letting so much as an object see his soft side. This was true. For the most part, all other captains didn't dare try to cross him. Especially Kenpachi, since he almost, you know, killed him. Yea they aren't on the greatest terms. But maybe there was a reason behind why he decided to distance himself from humanity or everyone for that matter. Maybe there's a bigger secret he can't let out or it might jeopardize the entirety of his job, the soul society, and his life.
