As the party fights to save Hawkins from the worsening threats of the Upside Down and those trying to instigate it, Dustin tries to remove the feelings he has for El, but as they get directly thrown into the danger together, he finds it near impossible to resist. El confronts him about their relationship and how mike should move forward, further confusing Mike. What has Mike really been searching for the whole time? Was it really El? Or was it something else. Or someone else? Either way, it's time Mike finally figures out what's going on in his head so he can actually focus on real problems. All this is happening amidst their post-apocalyptic world which really isn't helping things for him.
