SLOWBURN. trust the process:) Immediately following the ending of S5 pt 1., Mike and Will navigate their feelings for each other, misplaced jealousy, and misunderstandings, and how to juggle them with what seems like the end of the world. Eventually finding themselves hiding out in an abandoned church on the outskirts of Hawkins, the forced break from their participation in the mission to end Vecna, and forced proximity to each other, reveals quite a bit. This is a longer, realistic Stranger Things fic that takes place immediately after the final scene of S5 pt1. originally written for ao3. More so Mike's pov but sort of jumps around! This one is for anybody who is also too impatient for pt2, and anyone who will also ruin Christmas if Byler doesn't happen. *knowing the byler water symbolism shown throughout the show is important context for this story! colorgate, churchgate, mwtfdydgate, maxgetawayfromthedoorgate, watergate, etc etc. **This was written before pt2 came out!!! So if you read this after the 25th, obviously ignore anything that actually happens in pt2 lol. Two broken-hearted boys trying to find someone to talk to... ending finding each other. Will after his first love which ended with the worst possible way. And Mike whose his first love ended by the missing of communication within them. They are devastated and trying to get some help find each other and begin meeting more often making his friendship stronger than ever. And maybe after some meetings, they haven't ever been just the best friendship of Hawkins-because they were destinated to be more than that.

This 'fanfiction' is just me yapping about why byler should be endgame. And why YOU should believe in byler supremacy!! Mike was doing fine, completely fine. He had just gotten out of a toxic relationship which caused him to have trust issues,luckily after a few months and his friends comforting him, he got over it. So yes, mike was doing completely fine, not good, not bad, just fine. That was until Will Byers came into his life.

In1988, Will Byers gets a place in an university he had always been dreaming of, Yale. There he finds out he shares a dorm with a boy named Mike wheeler. They become good friends. Soon Will realizes that his feelings for Mike are getting deeper, the same way they did before with other guys too. Will tries so hard to ignore those feelings, like he always did. But soon they are too much and he realizes that with Mike he feels different type of feelings than with the boys in his high school. Will he tell Mike about these feelings and how will the other boy react?
