Genesis chapter 4 details the story of Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve. Cain, a farmer, kills his brother Abel, a shepherd, after God accepts Abel's offering but not Cain's. God then curses Cain, forcing him to wander the earth, but also protects him from being killed.
