Calming Stories

𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐇,, 𝐅𝐢𝐚𝐝𝐡 𝐅𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧 doesn't want much- she's learnt not to expect it. Her dad's moved out and was replaced by her mam's new boyfriend. The youngest daughter sticks to herself at home, not muttering more than a 'hello' unless visitors are over. Then, they have to play happy families. It's an endless cycle of smiles and long sleeves. Everybody in her life has failed her. 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐡𝐝 𝐋𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐡 is free. He's safe. With a warm bed, home-cooked meals and a nosy family checking if he's okay. Yet, part of him was still stuck in that house. Where the fire of arguments and fists always lingered. Insomnia had taken over his nights, leaving him to run on spite and energy drinks. Snappy and unapologetically himself, and the fights in school to prove it. 𝐎𝐑,, 𝐀 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐮𝐫𝐥𝐲 brought them together. Fiadh was on edge her whole first day at Tommen. She was used to being terrorised in school, so all she could do was wait for it to arrive. But, it didn't. All that appeared was the boy who sat next to her in Maths. He pulled her out the toilet queue and introduced her to his friends. Noticed the chocolate bar she was rustling in her pocket and asked if they could share it. From that day on, he picked up a hammer and broke down her walls. Revealing the bubbly, scared girl underneath. Will Tadhg be able to face his trauma in order to save her, or fall victim to her rehearsed lies?

"People always said that if the apocalypse happened the world would turn into a wasteland. One where there is no light or life. That it'd be covered in gray smoke, trash, fires, and hopelessness. One where all the people rot and die or turn into another being due to a virus or a world catastrophe. I never thought I'd live long enough to agree nor deny these beliefs. Yet I did. And I can say that it's nothing like anyone thought. The cause of this was just a good idea that wasn't thought through very well." In a new world that has grown from the mistakes of humanity. All one knows is that they are all that's left. The occasional passerby is all the hope that is needed to believe there are others out there. Oftentimes humanity takes advantage of Earth. It's nature, resources, beauty, and imperfections. Taking a step back from a disaster to see the new picture is enlightening. Enjoy the tour of a different perspective of a global apocalypse. This short story has no developed main character. I did this on purpose. I did this so the reader could engage with the sense of hopelessness and the new world better. To focus more on the environment opposed to the person. It's whoever you want it to be, looking however you want. No name is given, no major physical descriptions either. Where there is a new world and the old one is gone, all sense of individuality is gone, hence the no name or main character. It's enjoying the frightening new world. All ideas, settings, and writing aspects of this story are soley created and owned by me. Thank you for reading :)

a short poem.

A series of poetry about life, love, and circumstance. Some are short, some are long, but hopefully they will make you feel something, do something, or feel understood. The title is Release because while going through a hard time in my life where I was struggling to find someone to talk to, I started writing poems about how I was feeling and it gave me release from the weight on my shoulders. That being said, I didn't write these with the intention of trying and make others feel understood, but to understand myself.
